Life Purpose

STUDY GUIDE

“Until your desire to become you matches God’s desire for you to become you, you will never become who God intended you to be”

How passionate are you to see God’s purposes come to fruition in your life?

How aggressively are you pursuing the knowledge of God and His will for your life?

How desperate are you to locate that for which your life
has been called upward in Christ (Phil 3:12)?

Are you “pressing towards the goal to win the prize to which Christ Jesus is calling you upward?”

You will never see your potential maximized until there is a grabbing hold of destiny in your heart. You will never become the you God intended until you get serious about knowing Him and knowing His will. Jesus said that “the violent take the kingdom by force”

(Matt 11:12).

This violence is similar to the aggressiveness of a baby in the birth canal that is ready to start living life. You have got to mean business about serving the purposes of God in this generation, and get your priorities in line if you want to find that life that gives significance.

Chapter 17

Principles of Purpose

1. Living our lives based upon divine principles helps each one of us handle apparent contradictions in life. How do we know that God’s plans and purposes are not only knowable but achievable? What biblical foundations do we have to believe that we can see the completion of what He began in us?

2. Every purpose has a “fullness of time” to it. We may have to go through many “deaths of a vision” before we encounter the timing of God. Have you experienced this apparent death to a vision the Lord gave you? How did you respond to the possibilities of finality or impossibility?

3. Every purpose has an enemy. What “enemy” has been attracted to you to stall or interfere with Gods purposes being fulfilled through you? Promotion and enlargement does not occur without having to face and defeat enemies.

4. Every purpose of God is working together for good. How does Paul’s life illustrate this? What was Paul’s confidence of “living and not dying” based upon?

5. Rejection of the purposes of God may mean replacement and the emergence of someone else to fulfill what we would not. God will never depart from His original intention and universal purpose. We see that illustrated in (please explain):

  • the life of King Saul and the raising up of David to establish God’s purposes for Israel
  • the life of Peter and the raising up Paul to establish God’s purposes for the Gentiles
